Rules and Regulations COMMERCIAL VIDEO

1. This Zooming 1 Malaysia Short Film and Commercial Awards are opened to all students of IPTA and IPTS includes Community College, Poly-technique in Malaysia.

2. Entrants must completed the entry form for submission.

3. The participants must not be a professional or commercial film maker.

4. The entry fee is RM20 per short film or commercial video. It can be paid through money order or deposit to SALIHAH SAFURAA BINTI SAFRUDIN account number 1621-0684-3681 (Maybank) and the receipt (copy) must be submitted together with the entry form for evidence while the original receipt must be kept for safety.

5. Participants can send in as many entries as they wish. However, an entrant can ONLY win one (1) prize.

6. The theme-1Malaysia- Participants are encouraged to be as creative as possible, and are not limited to any form of medium. Entries can be in the form of a movie, documentary, “live” act, animation, stop-action and etc, as long as it is related and illustrate about “1 Malaysia”.

7. Category & Duration :
a.) SHORT FILM: must be recorded no shorter than 5 minutes and no longer than 30 minutes that should attempt to define, capture or encapsulate the theme.
b.) COMMERCIAL VIDEO: must be recorded no shorter than 30 seconds and no longer than 3 minutes that should attempt to define, capture or encapsulate the theme.

8. Participants shall ensure that there is nothing in their entries that are illegal, libellous, offensive, obscene or defamatory.

9. Productions in any languages can be submitted. However, non-English submissions must be accompanied by subtitles in English.

10. All short films and commercial videos must be original which not have been published elsewhere or have won a prize in any other competitions or film festivals and must be taken in 2010. If any, the entries will be disqualified.

11. The accompanying documents consist of a synopsis (no more than 150 words), a brief biography of the team submitting the entry, a translation for languages other than English, and 2 DVDs (1 DVD-video, and 1 DVD-data of the film in either .avi, .wmv, or .flv file format). It must be labelled with the participant’s name and participant’s NRIC / passport number and telephone no.

12. The judges will be looking at creativity and originality of ideas, story style in terms of story telling ability and emotional pull, clarity of translation, presentation of storyline and emotional nuances, and cinematography techniques in a video that rises above the rest in relation to the theme.

13. Winners will be notified by telephone or via email. Prizes must be collected personally. Prize not collected within given time and date will be forfeited.

14. All finalists will be notified to attend prize giving ceremony. The cost of travelling will be borne by themselves.

15. Copyright of all short films and commercial videos submitted for this competition shall REMAIN with UiTM Shah Alam and Media Prima Bhd. and will not be returned back.

16. UiTM Shah Alam and Media Prima Bhd. shall be allowed to keep, exhibit and make copies of all short films and commercial videos without prior consent or payment to participant for non- commercial usage.

17. The organizing committee reserves the right to amend, delete or add to the above Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice.

18. By participating in this event, participants agree to be bound by these rules and regulations as well as the decisions made by organiser and the panel of judges. The organizers have the right to substitute the prizes with equivalent value.

19. Time line :
a.) Call for entries : 1st June 2010.
b.) Closing date for entires : 27th August 2010. All entries must be received by 2400 hrs GMT on Friday 27th August 2010.
c.) Judging will take place during the second week in September 2010. Participants whose entries are selected as finalists will be notified by email or by call by Friday, 17th September 2010, or earlier.
d.) The Winners will be announced at the Awards Presentation ceremony and exhibition. This will take place on 25th September 2010 and the venue will be inform later.

20. Late, illegible, incomplete, defaced or corrupt entries will not be accepted. No responsibility can be accepted for lost entries and proof of transmission will not be accepted as proof of receipt.

1. This Zooming 1 Malaysia Photo Award is opened to all students of IPTA and IPTS includes Community College, Poly-technique in Malaysia.

2. Entrants must completed the entry form for submission.

3. The entry fee is RM10 per photo. It can be paid through money order or deposit to SALIHAH SAFURAA BINTI SAFRUDIN account number 1621-0684-3681 (Maybank) and the receipt (copy) must be submitted together with the entry form for evidence while the original receipt must be kept for safety.

4. Participants can send in as many entries as they wish. However, an entrant can ONLY win one (1) prize.

5. The theme of photograph-“ 1Malaysia”. It can be in any genres including people portraits, buildings, nature, landscape, sport, still life, food, culture or etc, as long as it is related and illustrate about “1Malaysia”.

6. The photo(s) must be submitted in 8R size and accompanied with a digital copy of original size stored in a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM. The hardcopy and softcopy of the image(s) must be labelled with the participant’s name and participant’s NRIC / passport number and telephone number.

7. All photographs must be original which not have been published elsewhere or have won a prize in any other photographic competition and must be taken in 2010. If any, the photographs will be disqualified.

8. Commercial and advertising images, heavy digitally manipulate, or montage images are not permissible. Basic darkroom techniques e.g. levels, curves, dodging, burning, minimal sharpening , colour correction are permissible. The photographs can be black and white or colour, in any format.

9. The photographs must not have any borders, key-line or film edges, personal logos or watermarks, and must be of sufficient quality and resolution for enlargements.

10. The judges will be looking at overall technical skill, composition, creativity and challenging aesthetics in a photograph that arises above the rest in relation to the theme“1Malaysia”. The decision of the judges is FINAL.

11. Winners will be notified by telephone or via email. Prizes must be collected personally. Prize not collected within given time and date will be forfeited.

12. All finalists will be notified to attend award giving ceremony and dinner. The cost of travelling will be borne by themselves.

13. Copyright of all photographs submitted for this competition shall REMAIN with UiTM Shah Alam and Media Prima Bhd. All photographs for the competition will not be returned and shall remain the property of UiTM Shah Alam and Media Prima Bhd.

Shortlisted Finalists Exhibit photographs will be required to submit high resolution image files and printed photograph at size of 10R High resolution files should be at least 3,500 pixels at its shortest dimension, (approx. 16'' x 20'' size), and must be of exhibition quality. (Contact the organiser if in doubt). Files may be interpolated upwards in a photo editing software to the required dimensions, but image quality must be maintained.

18. The Winners will be announced at the Awards Giving Ceremony and Dinner. This will take place on 25th September 2010 and the venue will be inform later.
